Perodua Nautica 4WD: Specifications and Photos
The Perodua Kembara was launched in 1998, and as one of the cheapest 4WD SUVs in the market, it took the lion’s share of the SUV market - 60% by 1999. The Kembara’s successor - the Perodua Nautica 4WD was launched today and Perodua seems to be approaching it differently, bringing it as a premium product imported from Japan (a first for a Perodua) with only one variant priced at RM89,900 OTR with insurance. While the Kembara took 60%, Perodua only intends to take 5% of the current SUV market, with sales of about 150 to 200 units monthly.
The Perodua Nautica is essentially a Perodua-badged version of the short wheelbase Daihatsu Terios/Toyota Rush. The front bumper and grille is different, and these along with the rear bumper are made locally in Malaysia, while the rest of the car comes completely assembled from Japan. For lighting, you get foglamps and projector halogen headlamps while the rear brake lamp cluster use conventional bulbs.
The chassis is based on a derivative of the Toyota Avanza platform but has additional reinforcements to make it 30% stiffer than its derivative models. The suspension design consists of MacPherson struts at the front and a live axle at the rear.
The longitudinally mounted 1.5 liter DVVT engine is the 3SZ-VE producing 109hp at 6,000rpm and 141Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. This engine is also found in the Rush and Avanza 1.5. It is mated to a single overdrive 4-speed automatic, and a full-time 4WD system which has a centre differential lock which can be activated from a button on the dashboard. It locks so that the front and rear axles rotate at the same speed.

3 ways to boost your computer's performance

Run the Windows Live OneCare safety scanner
The safety scanner can help you increase your computer's performance by removing temporary files, cleaning your registry, and defragmenting your hard disk. Such optimization can help your PC run more efficiently.
· To remove obsolete temporary files and invalid registry items that can accumulate on your hard disk over time and slow down your PC, go to the Clean Up Center and click Clean Up Scan. Temporary files and leftover registry data can be safely removed without deleting any data needed by your computer.
· To fix hard disk fragmentation, which allows your PC to find all the pieces of a file faster because it only has to look in one place for them, go to the Tune Up Center and click Tune Up Scan.
If you've never defragmented your hard disk or cleaned out temporary files, or if it's been awhile since you've last done so, run the Windows Live OneCare full-service scan to do it all in one fell swoop!
If you're using Windows XP, you can use the Error-checking tool to check the integrity of your hard disk, including file system errors and bad sectors.
To run the Error-checking tool:
1. Click Start, click My Computer, and then right-click the local disk that you want to check (usually, this is drive C).
2. Click Properties, and then click Tools.
3. Under Error-checking, click Check Now…. Make sure both check boxes are selected, then click Start.
Over time, you or members of your family may install software programs on your computer. Sometimes, these new programs are exactly what you're looking for and you use them all the time. Other times, these programs don't do what you hoped and you use them less and less until you forget about them altogether. Even though you aren't using a program, though, it still consumes resources and can affect your computer's performance.
To remove programs you don't need anymore:
1. Click Start, and in Category View, click Control Panel.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove Programs.
3. Scroll through the list and examine each program. Windows XP lists how often you use a program and what day you last started it.Note: Don't remove anything labeled "Update" or "Hotfix." These things improve the security of your computer.
4. Click each program you no longer need, click Change/Remove, then follow the prompts to uninstall it.
You may have to restart your computer after removing a program. After your computer restarts, repeat steps 1 through 4 to remove more programs.
Note: You must be logged on as an administrator to add or remove programs.

Microsoft reduces price of Vista
Microsoft reduces price of Vista

Microsoft has announced a price revision for its Windows Vista operating system. In Asia, Malaysia is the only market to enjoy the adjusted pricing offered thru local IT partners, and is one of the only two countries in the world to adopt this strategy. Depending on the editions of the Windows Vista, price adjustments range from 10 to almost 50 percent.
This is reflected in its OEM licensing offering, a move which presents the easiest and most attractively-priced option for purchasing Windows Vista preinstalled in a PC, as well as its stand-alone retail packs. According to Mr. KT Ng, Director, Client Business Group, Business Marketing Organization, the strategy will also increases the product's relevance to the mainstream IT industry in view of the dropping prices of computer hardware and peripherals. As a result, the overall package is now more affordable to consumers, in addition to increasing user confidence in its genuine products.
Microsoft firmly believes that the increased affordability of Windows Vista Home Premium will enhance digital empowerment to a wider cross-section of Malaysian consumers and users and allow more to experience the rich features of a digital lifestyle. It will also ensure consumers and users' computer are well protected from security attacks.

Make IE and FireFox go faster than ever
Make IE and FireFox go faster than ever
FireFox is cool - but it's *very* slow. So is IE.
There are ways to make both of them run faster, fortunately.
If you want to make IE go faster - Go here.
If you want to make FireFox go faster, follow these steps:
Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. .
Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!
[found here with terrible formatting, so I reqrote it more clearly)
